Objectives:

Kill the yeast (only 10% of cure)

ThreeLac has helped a few people, but not so many as they claim. Apparently, if you take it immediately following antibiotics it's a great help. If you've had candida for awhile, it is much less effective.
Kyolic (garlic) and Grapefruit Seed Extract are the best for steady, effective, not too many side-effects, anti-yeast supplements. Pau D'arco tea is often recommended but you have to drink 8 cups daily for it to have any effect. Garden of Life sells an anti-fungal mix that has good things in it.

Anti-fungals should only be taken for 2 weeks. After that, yeast has adapted and is resistant. Switch to probiotics. Be sure to practice good colon cleansing while you take anti-fungals to reduce toxic symptoms and cleanse out the dead and dying yeast.

***** Starve the yeast (avoid all sugars and dairy for 3 months)
Avoid fruit too. An apple a day is okay, as are lemon and lime.

***** Candida diet. See the Candida Diet Guidelines
.

Limit raw vegetables. They can be healing for some people, but for weak digestions lightly steamed is better. Veggie juices are fine. Fermented veggies are fine if they are real, unfiltered, unpasteurized. Usually they have to be homemade to be really real, live foods. Either of the cleansing salads are great for Candida people.

***** Replace friendly microbes

Probiotics are the good microbes that get killed by poor diet, dead foods, antibiotics and aren't replaced by dead dairy. The friendly microbes contain the yeast. When they die, yeast overpopulates.

You can take them orally but beware, many won't survive stomach acids. Primal Defense is designed to survive and doesn't need to be refrigerated, but it doesn't repopulate the gut permanently, only acidophilus and bifidus does. PD just acts like an intestinal cleanser . Great for killing off yeast and pathogenic bacteria.

Best source of friendly microbes is homemade yogurt, kefir from kefir grains, homemade sauerkraut, Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar.

****** -Alkalinize the body with an alkaline diet

Vegetarian diets are alkaline. Eat very high quality beef or fish once a week to keep up your strength, eat hormone-free, free-range chicken or turkey several times a week, and lots of bone broths, otherwise, stick to beans, lentils, nuts.

****** -Thoroughly cleanse the bowels, lymph, liver

Buy an enema bucket setup. Cheapest one I've found is from Health & Yoga in India. Follow the Bowel Management notes. Or get good at the Salt Water Flush.

At least weekly, take a detox bath.
Dry brush daily.
See liver management.
Increase power of digestion. This is VERY important.

****** Avoid allergens for 6-9 months

Anything you are used to eating habitually is probably an allergen to you now. Common allergens are wheat and other gluten grains (oats), corn, white potatoes.

Beware of perfumes, pest sprays, household cleansers. Use natural solutions such as vinegar to clean whenever possible. Avoid new cars!

****** Oxygenate the body! Increase circulation!

I cannot stress enough how important this is. If your candida is hanging on and on, it’s because your body is simply not oxygenated enough. To be properly oxygenated, you must BREATHE and either exercise or manipulate the muscles with massage. Oils are essential for transporting oxygen.
So Exercise!
Walk at least 20 minutes 3x week.
Self-massage
Massage
Castor oil packs/moist heat
Acupressure/Acupuncture
Cayenne Pepper
Liquid Chlorophyll
EVCoconut oil – at least 3 tablespoons a day.

****** Good Sleep!

Go to sleep by 11:00 pm. Each hour before midnight slept is twice as healing as every hour after.

****** Essential supplements:

Pancreatic enzymes
Super Greens (chlorella, spirulina, barley, veggies, etc.)
Essential Fatty Acids
Can take fish oil, flax seed oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Borage, coconut, nut oils
Green Tea & Spicy Teas, digestive teas (peppermint, ginger) and cleansing/detoxing teas (peppermint, dandelion, nettle, burdock)
Planetary Formula's Bupleurum Liver Cleanse or something similar
Probiotics if you're not making your own fermented foods
A good multi-vit - Solaray's Spectro - with GTF Chromium to be taken after your liver and bowels are clean - see the Sources forum for links

The Cleansing Drink with molasses instead of maple syrup

Consider getting a juicer. The yeasties have been starving your body of vital nutrients for a long time. Synthetic Vitamin Pills are just not as good as real food, and carrots and green juices are tremendously healing.

Fiber-based intestinal cleanser

Support Adrenals with licorice root, gotu kola, after about 3 months on the candida diet.

NO caffeine

Take Gotu Kola (an herb) as a Tea so it helps repair tissues too

Its funny you mentioned potatoes because I can't seem to tolerate them anymore and from what I've read about food allergies they don't seem to be one of the more common ones. Is this something particular to Candida?

Potatoes are starchy and therefore feed the Candida. After 1-3 months on Candida diet you can introduce some potatoes back, but if you see some side effects back off, as your body is not ready for them yet.

I know you said killing the yeast is only 10% of the job but i have been eliminating it for 4 months now and only feel 10% better. I stay away from sugar and fruit and exercise 5 days a week 2 times a day. I get monthly massages and take supplements that are suggested. I had severe food allergies and they have improved however, I am still not sleeping and am severely fatigued. I have gained 15 pounds since beginning the cleanse which i would think it would be the opposite if I am getting rid of the yeast and my body would go back to normal.

Why do you think I have gained all that weight and the reason I am so exhausted since my diet and exercise have remained the same?

Have you cleansed your liver yet? That is a MUST, especialy when there is sluggishness or weight gain or hormonal issues.

I did a cleansing before I started the yeast killing which was 6 weeks. What exactly does the liver cleansing consist of?

Shelley, how do you feel about metal cleansing as part of reducing candida?

I read a lot about people with dental fillings taking great lengths to rid themselves of mercury. Luckily I don't have any metal fillings, but I'm told that even so we all have heavy metal poisoning from vaccinations, eating tuna/fish, and just breathing the air.

If one were to go about a HM cleanse, what do you rec'd?
What is ALA?
Will chlorella alone take care of it?

Hi Shelley,

Any other information about pau d'arco usage in candida cases? What are the supposed benefits of the pau d'arco intake?

I didn't see any other mention of ALA in this thread, but is it referring to alpha lipoic acid?
